After a fall in Foylside car park resulting in a broken patella, my wife was taken to A&E where she was quickly seen by courteous and professional staff. X-rays were done, it was determined that the patella was fractured but that no surgery was necessary and the leg was strapped. A referral letter was issued to our local GP and appointment arranged for fracture clinic in Letterkenny. As of today progress is excellent and short walks are possible. Please forward my thanks on to each and every one of the staff there. Regards, Tim Porter.

I was admitted to Altnagelvin for angioplasty last week. From the moment I arrived my care was second to none, the team carrying out the procedure were unbelievable. While doing their job they kept atmosphere light which helped me considerably. The nurses looking after me in recovery were more than attentive. Their personalities shone through I'm not mentioning names as too many on both teams. My visit was short as I was admitted back to Causeway but I have nothing but praise for this department.

We had my Mum who has dementia up for breast screening appt today. The staff were brilliant and took Mum through very quickly due to her dementia. The nurse was brilliant and the Dr excellent. Mum wouldnt have much patience. Thankfully we got good news. I appreciate the excellent job they do many thanks for making the visit a calm one. Valerie Alexander.

Referrals are slow, poor consultant cover ie absence due to sick leave long term, poor or lack of communication between medical, nursing and admin staff with patient. Near obstruction when trying to get an update. Seems to be individual stand apathy with excuses busy with other patients, fine for a day or two but not week in week out. All I want is for classification to which step in the process so can follow up. My experience relates to a vascular issue taking over nine months for diagnosis and referral to belfast for intermittent claudication.

I absolutely would not recommend Altnagelvin hospital. They need constant reminding regarding making patient appointments. There is a clear lack of care or interest in patients. After care is horrible. Appointments are non existent. They will tell you they will make you an appointment and then it will never happen. Like dealing with nursery school children!
